Stronger together
We see the word ‘poverty’ and our vision blurs. All we see are statistics: 1.3 billion people trapped in an endless cycle. But these statistics have faces. And as the Church, we have the responsibility to do something.
Hillsong has developed a partnership with Compassion to reduce poverty in Uganda. Compassion works exclusively with local churches, transforming children’s lives by linking them with an individual sponsor. Since 2002, globally over 100.000 ave been sponsored children through our church, network and conferences. Of which over 20.000 children in Uganda.
It’s working. The testimonies are truly remarkable. Children are finding Christ, their education is progressing and their health improving. Children are graduating with dreams alive in their hearts and a clear vision for their future.

How can I help as a sponsor?

Write a letter
Letters are very important for the sponsored children and they form part of their self-image and self-esteem. You can easily write a card or letter and send a few photos online via your own MyCompassion account.

Give a gift
You can support a family by giving a family gift (from €50 – €1000). This makes extra help possible for the family of a sponsored child. This will be spent in consultation with the parents. The current food crisis means that many families are struggling to buy enough food. Many family donations are now spent on this. It is also possible that this is spent on other things, such as livestock, land, house, etc.
